It's suddenly very windy, which garden fencing panel is the solution?

It’s suddenly very windy, which garden fencing panel is the solution?

Wind is the enemy of garden fencing, of all garden buildings in fact, but particularly garden fencing. I’ll be honest, I had a good chuckle at the reporter on the news at lunchtime trying to report while being buffeted by the wind, but when you sell garden fencing the wind is no laughing matter.

We have a wide range of different garden fencing panels available, and there are many factors to consider when choosing the right one for you, but today let’s look at which garden fencing is best equipped to cope with high winds.

Our strongest garden fencing is our Grange Closeboard garden fencing. This garden fencing panel will not let the wind through, but plenty of timber is used in its construction, making it very durable garden fencing.

My favourite solution would probably be the Grange Gawsworth garden fencing. This garden fencing ’s open slatted design will allow the wind through, and it is also pressure treated which means it will last well when faced with wet and damp conditions.

Also, a type of garden fencing you might not have even considered is metal garden fencing. Our Wenlock and Montford designs of metal garden fencing will let the wind through, while also being very strong.

So if the wind is playing havoc with your garden fencing, maybe it is time to switch to metal garden fencing for that extra stability. But if you can’t bear the thought of changing from wooden garden fencing, the Grange Closeboard and Gawsworth garden fencing panels are well worth a look.

How to tell your Garden Fencing from your Fencing

How to tell your Garden Fencing from your Fencing

You may have noticed that when you using a search engine to look for fencing you don’t just find garden fencing, you also find a lot of websites devoted to the Olympic sport Fencing.

So how do you spot the difference? Well it’s pretty simple really, if you see pictures of men with swords you’ve found the sport Fencing. If you find lots of pictures of wooden panels you’ve found Garden Fencing. And if you’ve found lots of pictures of high quality panels with incredibly low prices next to them, you’ve found Elbec Fencing!

With the 2012 Olympics fast approaching it is worth me pointing out that there are actually 10 gold medals up for grabs in fencing at the Olympics, however Great Britain have only ever won 1 fencing gold in the Olympics. Although Elbec’s Garden Fencing wins gold every time!

The top medal winners of all time in Fencing are actually Italy and France, and they can boast some serious prowess in Garden Fencing too, with our continental ranges of fencing being of really high quality!

So hopefully you know a bit more about fencing, and fencing! While we here at Elbec can’t claim to be experts on the sport, but we can promise that our prices on garden fencing will cut your costs!

Metal Fencing. Coming Soon

Metal Fencing. Coming Soon

A new range of metal fencing is due to be launched by Elbec garden buildings very shortly. At very competitive pricing you will be able to choose from a great range of metal gates and fencing.

Our metal gates and fencing are not only galvanized but finished in a very attractive powder coated paint. Your metal fencing and or matching metal gate will be delivered to you and once it has been erected you wont need to paint it. Most metal fencing on the market has to be painted and sometimes protected against rust when delivered.

If you think panting a metal fence is easy well think again. I can assure you it is not. I spent at least a week a year priming and painting my parents metal fence as a teenager. Put me off painting for life having to go round All the fiddly bits with a paintbrush. Not once not twice but three times, ie primer undercoat and then top coat.

I have to say it did look the business when finished and 25 years later it looks good as new.

Have a Grange metal fence delivered and you wont have to go through all that effort. The powder coated finish ensures it looks more expensive than what it is.

So if you are thinking of looking for some classic metal fencing, wait until you see the metal fencing on the Elbec website before you make your decision

Garden Building Deliveries

Garden Building Deliveries

Due to the combination of good weather and bank holidays it seems that everyone is wanting to improve their gardens all at the same time. This has contributed to an unpredented level of demand in the Garden Building industry and all manufacturers are currently experiencing delays in getting products to you.

We apologise for the delay if your order is one of those that has been affected. You can be assured that the manufactures are doing their utmost to get the order to you if yours is one that has been delayed. Elbec trade with all the major UK manufacturers and they are all experiencing delays.

Garden buildings are very large items to store so nowadays virtually all Garden Buildings are delivered to the customer direct from the manufacturer. It cuts down on costs and therefore Garden Buildings become even more affordable to the customer.

The drawback is that there are times like now when the manufacturers simply cannot get the orders out fast enough. Even though more resources are used to catch up with the backlog, unfortunately for the customer and us the retailer it does take a little time to catch up.

We thank you for your patience and we will get your order to your as quickly as we can   if you are experiencing a delay on your order.

What is Shiplap and Overlap?

Shiplap is a term used to describe a type of wooden board used commonly in the construction of sheds and outbuilding. The profile of each board partially overlaps that of the board next to it creating a channel that gives shadow line effects, provides excellent weather protection and allows for dimensional movement.

Useful for its strength and its ability to form a relatively tight seal when lapped, shiplap is usually used as a type of siding for buildings that do not require extensive maintenance and must withstand cold and aggressive climates.
Small doors and shutters such as those found in barns and sheds are often constructed of shiplap. Shiplap is also used indoors for the rough or rustic look that it creates when used as panelling or a covering for a wall or ceiling. Shiplap is often used to describe any rebated siding material that overlaps in a similar fashion.

Overlap refers to a more traditional method of finishing a shed or outdoor building. It is a simple yet aesthetically pleasing finishing. The overlap technique comprises of wooden boards. Each board has square cut edges and is ‘overlapped’ onto the adjacent edge of the next board. The boards are then nailed to vertical bearers. This is an economical method of manufacture as the boards need minimal preparation. The technique is simpler way to manufacture a sidewall in comparison to shiplap. Two major advantages of Overlap is the cost effective side as well as the aesthetically pleasing rustic look.

Please check our range of Sheds for both finishes.
