Elbec’s fencing range has just got even better with the release of a brand new range of metal fencing and gates.

This is not just any range of metal fencing and gates, it is metal fencing and gates from Metpost® the industry leader in galvanized and powder coated metal gates, fencing and railings.

As this fencing is powder coated and galvanized when the metal fencing or gates arrive you just simply assemble it and that is that. No tedious painting like most other suppliers of metal fencing and gates.

Choose from tall gates such as the Ludlow Bow Top Tall Scroll Gate or the smaller gates such as the Ironbridge small gate or Montford spear top single gate. With scrolls, spears or ball tops there is a design for everyone.

Metal Gates come in 3 widths to fit the following gaps, Gate width 770 will fit an opening of 825-900mm, 810mm will fit an opening of 900 – 975mm and a metal gate width of 840mm will fit an opening of 900 – 975mm.

The metal fences have a standard width of 1.81m wide however we can provide you with a quote for bespoke made to measure metal fencing.

There is the option of universal metal posts which are also galvanized and powder coated and with the metpost metal fence and rail fitting set or metal gate fitting set you can purchase everything you need for your metal fence and metal gate project on one page.

Using framework of 2in x 2in (45mm x 45mm) and spaced not more than 2ft 8in (800mm) apart and constructed using the best quality solid pine tongue and groove shiplap wall cladding as well as tongue and groove floors and roofs.

An internal eaves height of 6ft (1790mm) and a ridge height od 7ft (2110mm) ensure plenty of headroom and the feeling of space.

Doors are 5ft 8in high giving plenty of headroom with double doors having a total width of 4ft 5in (1350mm) with brass handles.

Each window is properly morticed and tenoned, profiled and weather resistant and most are opening.

There is so much attention to detail with facias shaped into shallow curves. Nothing has been overlooked with the finials even being shaped as well as a balustrade on a verandah. Everything is designed to fully coordinate.

If you think panting a metal fence is easy well think again. I can assure you it is not. I spent at least a week a year priming and painting my parents metal fence as a teenager. Put me off painting for life having to go round All the fiddly bits with a paintbrush. Not once not twice but three times, ie primer undercoat and then top coat.

I have to say it did look the business when finished and 25 years later it looks good as new.

Due to the combination of good weather and bank holidays it seems that everyone is wanting to improve their gardens all at the same time. Garden buildings are very large items to store so nowadays virtually all Garden Buildings are delivered to the customer direct from the manufacturer. It cuts down on costs and therefore Garden Buildings become even more affordable to the customer.

The drawback is that there are times like now when the manufacturers simply cannot get the orders out fast enough. Even though more resources are used to catch up with the backlog, unfortunately for the customer and us the retailer it does take a little time to catch up.

Mens Sheds Organisation in Australia

Now I came across a very interesting article about sheds in Wyong which is in New South Wales Australia.

It was an invitation to men who love their sheds to help plan and then build a new men’s shed in their town. The state Government have even become involved by partially funding the project.

They plan to make the shed an eco shed using solar power and recycled materials.

However this is no ordinary shed it is a shed where men meet to play cards, socialize etc I suppose pretty much like the working mens organization we have in the UK except without drink.

They also will use the shed to make things for charitable groups and its about whatever they want to do.

It is about socializing with other blokes and don’t go to the pub. A sort of meeting place if you like to discuss hobbies and business. This shed is not unique in Australia and seems to be a big thing over there. It is I believe unique to Australia and is an organization that helps improve the local community and indeed have become valuable assets to the community they serve.

The shed also serves to share and preserve skills, abilities and interests that are relevant to the community and help is at hand in times of transitional periods such as redundancy.

 There are many men sheds which attract many members young and old and they help the local community. It is an interesting concept which I haven’t come across in the UK

So you’re buying a shed from B&Q you’ve check the B&Q price you think it’s reasonable the shed looks like a good B&Q quality product.
