In very simple terms the walls of garden sheds are made from profiled boards that interlock with a rectangular groove into which a grooved board fits into it. All shiplap boarding used by Elbec is proper tongue and groove rather than the inferior half lap or rebated shiplap used by some competitors where the timber boards overlap rather than fit into a deep groove. The sheds using rebated shiplap can be cheaper in price and can look similar from the outside but the shed wall construction is nowhere near as strong as a shed with proper tongue and groove shiplap.
The principle purpose of shiplap is to show a smooth surface. The profiled boards allow efficient drainage of water therefore allowing the timber to dry more quickly.
Superior to overlapped garden sheds and a bit more expensive as the timber used is usually of better quality and thicker boards are used. Well worth paying the extra if you want your shed to last years to come.
