Who are Shire Garden Buildings?

Shire is one of the largest if not the largest manufacturers of Garden Buildings in the UK today but still remains a family company. Established in 1945 Shire are located in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. Covering over 20 acres the Shire factories are equipped with the latest machinery and include a planning mill and in house joinery production.

Shire have there own treatment facilities, including a pressure treatment plant. The large warehouses can house some 10000 unites undercover.

Shire manufacture a huge range of garden products including sheds, summerhouses, arbours, log cabins, playhouses, pet houses, decking kits.

Shire are proud of their reputation and produce low priced garden buildings without compromising quality, indeed their competitors widely acknowledge that pound for pound  Shire produce the best quality building around.

A Shire building is designed right down to the smallest detail using quality fixtures and fittings and proper joinery windows on their sheds and proper joinery doors on their summerhouses. Shire garden buildings don’t just look different to other garden buildings they look stylish too.

Pine timber is used in all Shire Garden Buildings and then treated in house. Shire is unique. Shire don’t just manufacture garden buildings, they also supply timber to the trade. Shire timber is sourced from the high quality Pine forests of Russia and Scandinavia. Shire will not use any other timber even if other timber can be found cheaper elsewhere.

Shire know where their timber comes from and are PEFC (The UK Certification Scheme for Sustainable Forest Management) and FSC (FSC is an international, non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting responsible management of the world’s forests) approved)

Shire do not use auction clearing houses to buy their timber. Shire know the quality of their timber and will not change their principles so that when you buy a Shire Garden Building you know it is made from the best timber from sustainable forests. This makes a Shire garden building last much longer as the timber will not rot so readily.

The timber is shipped directly into the port of Wisbech and unloaded directly at Shires own quay adjacent to the Shire’s factory. The timber is then prepared in house so Shire control all the processes required to manufacture a garden building.
