Shed Terminology - Part 2

Continuing our shed glossary of what you should know about a shed before buying one.

Floor. Materials used here are similar to the roof. The Elbec Professional range of sheds use tongue and groove boarding.

The Popular range have some sheds with tongue and groove boarding these you will find are mainly the Sheriff premium sheds, some you will find have OSB roofs these are mainly the Shire sheds and some may have water resistant chipboard.

The Pricewise range of overlap sheds use OSB for the Shire Overlap. So what is the difference? Well tongue and groove boarding is perceived to be the best for sheds. Yes it will last longer but watch out for cheap imitations of the real thing. If the boards are too thin they will give a bouncy feel. Elbec do not sell cheap imitations. Our tongue and groove floors are the real deal/

OSB floors in sheds sometimes are given a bad press. They give a very solid feel to the shed floor and have similar qualities to plywood. It is water resistant and durable. The Tongue and Groove tend to be a nice to have feature as they do look far smarter in a new shed. In all honesty over the years when the shed floor may get quite dirty you may be hard pressed to look in your shed and see if it is a tongue and groove floor anyway. So please do not discount an OSB floor. The water resistant chipboards do wear well too but OSB is the much better option for a shed floor
