All about Metal Sheds
Part One
Metal sheds offer easy maintenance ie no treating on a regular basis to keep your shed spick and span, although you may want to wash your metal shed every so often to remove the accumulated dirt, pretty much like you would wash your car.
Metal sheds are generally a little cheaper than a wooden shed although they are usually priced without a floor. They wont rust if you go for a fully hot dipped galvanized shed. Beware the electro galvanized metal sheds which will rust within a few years especially if you are in a coastal area with its high salt content. It should be noted that nearly all metal sheds offered by Elbec garden buildings include fully hot dipped galvanized as standard.
Like a wooden shed you will need to put down a base either of concrete or slabs and making it to almost the exact size of the footprint of your metal shed. The metal shed can then be attached by anchor screws by drilling into the concrete and then simply using a screwdriver to screw the anchor screws tight.
A metal shed is conducive to condensation. You can minimise this in your metal shed by ensuring your metal sheds include an air vent and again most of the metal sheds offered by Elbec include an air vent. You can also lay a dpc (damp proof course) at around 5” below the surface, a sheet of polythene will serve its purpose here.
