Wooden Sheds: The Healthy Man’s Choice

You may have noticed wooden sheds mentioned in smaller pieces of news recently (I won’t try and pretend wooden sheds are the nation’s number one concern, although they should be!). Having written a blog on the health benefits of wooden sheds, I would have to say we were then surprised to see the big wooden sheds story making the newspapers and even Breakfast on the BBC!

This isn’t to say we don’t think wooden sheds are important, but since we sell wooden sheds we’re probably biased! So what is it about this story that has shot the wooden shed to prominence?

I think there are two things, health now constantly gets plenty of coverage and there is something inherently British about the wooden shed. Even those who have never owned a wooden shed of their own seem to consider the wooden shed a heart-warming reminder of their own youth. Their own house might not have had a wooden shed, but their granddad or neighbour’s wooden shed would have been a magical and mysterious place.

On the health side of things, does a wooden shed help you live longer? While I think a wooden shed offers a great place to spend your time, I have my doubts; people who potter around doing things in their wooden sheds would probably still potter around doing things if they didn’t have a wooden shed. We certainly won’t be marketing our wooden sheds as lifesavers, or expecting NHS funding!

I would say the big reason to have a wooden shed is happiness. A wooden garden shed is a great place to spend your time, and more important than a living a long life is living a good one!
