Description
Manufactured from slow-grown Scandinavian softwood, this commanding 16 x 16 pent cabin offers unrivalled internal space and is designed to withstand British weather. The walls utilise 44mm thick logs with a precision interlocking profile, creating a rigid structure that helps resist the elements while providing natural insulation.
Despite its vast square footage, the ridge height is engineered to stay below 2.5m to generally alleviate planning concerns, and a complementary 5L container of wood preserver is included to facilitate immediate exterior protection. The building’s facade is defined by three anthracite uPVC windows and double doors, all fitted with double-glazed toughened glass to maximise natural light and thermal efficiency. These units feature flexible ‘tilt and turn’ mechanisms for controlled airflow, whilst security is assured through residential-grade 5-point locking systems at all access points.
The modular design gives you the freedom to determine the window and door configuration at the time of ordering, and the entrance is finished with a low-profile aluminium threshold for seamless accessibility. Internally, the cabin features a high-end finish, anchored by a heavy-duty 19mm tongue-and-groove floor that offers exceptional stability compared to standard sheet materials. Your cabin comes with pressure-treated floor bearers as standard to help keep moisture away and ensure long-lasting performance The perimeter is neatly detailed with Burford-style skirting boards.
To guarantee long-term durability, the roof is protected by a premium single-sheet EPDM rubber membrane with a 50-year life expectancy, which works in tandem with a gutter edge drip plate to effectively direct rainwater away from the timber walls.
Tailored Configuration
The Powersheds log cabin range is renowned for its exceptional adaptability, giving you the freedom to customise the final design down to the nearest millimetre. You can specify any dimension up to a length of 38ft, ensuring a perfect fit for your garden. The layout is entirely flexible; whether you wish to adjust the building height, add or remove doors and windows in specific positions, or insert full and partial partitions to create separate rooms, the configuration can be tailored to your exact requirements.
Furthermore, intelligent engineering ensures that, even with our largest cabin sizes, there is no need for intrusive internal support posts, leaving you with a completely open, unobstructed floor plan. To get started, provide a rough sketch—or just a description—and our experienced team will provide a bespoke quote. Once you place an order, we will create a detailed technical drawing for your review. Manufacturing commences only after you give your final approval, ensuring your personalised cabin is crafted to your precise vision.
Premium uPVC Windows and Doors
Powersheds cabins are fitted with high-quality uPVC windows and doors, combining the aesthetic of a modern garden room with the practicality of advanced materials. Finished in a sleek anthracite grey externally with a clean white interior, these units offer superior security thanks to multi-point locking systems and durable double-glazed panels. Beyond security, the uPVC construction is impervious to the warping and swelling often associated with wooden frames, ensuring a perfect fit and smooth operation year after year. The tilt-and-turn window mechanism enables flexible ventilation without compromising safety or warmth.
Heavy-Duty 50-Year EPDM Rubber Roof
Powersheds have replaced traditional, flimsy roofing felt with a superior EPDM rubber roof covering, included as standard on this model. This single-sheet membrane is bonded to the roof boards to create a watertight barrier that helps resist leaks and weather damage. EPDM is incredibly durable, UV stable, and capable of withstanding extreme temperature fluctuations without cracking. With a life expectancy of up to 50 years, it provides peace of mind that your cabin and its contents are well-protected against the elements for decades to come.

Make the Most of Your Powersheds Log Cabin
The immense 16 x 16 square footprint, bathed in light from the triple window array, provides the perfect canvas for a large-scale open-plan office or a professional photography studio. There is sufficient floor space to create distinct operational zones—such as a reception area, workstations, and a meeting table—without the environment feeling restricted. The substantial 44mm timber construction helps with sound damping and temperature regulation, ensuring a focused and comfortable professional atmosphere throughout the year.
Alternatively, this structure is grand enough to function as a complete garden leisure suite, easily accommodating a full home gym setup alongside a relaxation lounge or games area. The square layout is particularly versatile for positioning bulky equipment or a central feature like a pool table. During warmer spells, opening the uPVC double doors and windows creates a fluid connection with your garden, transforming the cabin into an airy pavilion ideal for entertaining friends and family.
Building a Solid Foundation – Why a Base is Crucial
To maximise the lifespan of your log cabin, it is imperative that it is assembled on a firm, completely level base. If the foundation is uneven or "out of square," the timber structure may settle incorrectly, leading to issues such as doors catching, the roof twisting, or gaps appearing that could allow moisture to penetrate. An inadequate base may also invalidate your product guarantee, so preparing the ground correctly is the most important first step.
Location & Drainage
When selecting a spot for your base, ensure there is sufficient clearance around the perimeter for installation and future maintenance (applying preservative). Be mindful of overhanging trees or foliage that could damage the roof, and consider the roof overhang when measuring distance from fences. Crucially, check the natural drainage of your garden; avoid areas where water pools, as this could lead to long-term damp issues for the timber floor bearers.
Recommended Base Types
While there are various methods for creating a base, the choice often depends on your budget and DIY confidence. For a building of this size and weight, we strongly recommend one of the following:
- Concrete Base: The strongest and most permanent option, ideal for larger cabins.
- Paving Slab Base: A solid and reliable alternative if laid on a proper sub-base.
If you are unsure about preparing these yourself, please contact us for advice or to discuss professional installation options.

Log Cabin Aftercare & Guarantee
Your Powersheds log cabin arrives as untreated timber. To protect the wood from the outset, we supply a free 5L container of premium exterior wood preserver with every cabin (treatment requirements will vary depending on the size of the log cabin). It is essential to apply a preservative and a waterproofing topcoat immediately after installation.
To maintain the validity of your 10-year anti-rot guarantee, you must treat the building annually. Consistent maintenance prevents the timber from drying out or absorbing excess moisture. For a personalised finish, you can upgrade to our Protek Royal Exterior Wood Finish range, which offers superior protection and a variety of colours. FAQs
Do I need planning permission?
Most Powersheds log cabins are designed to be under 2.5 metres in height, which generally classifies them as "Permitted Development," meaning planning permission is not usually required. However, rules can vary based on your location and property type. We strongly advise checking with your local planning office or the Planning Portal to be certain before ordering.
Does the cabin require a base?
Yes. As detailed in the foundation section, your cabin must be situated on a sturdy, level surface, such as concrete or paving slabs, to ensure its structural integrity.
How is the cabin delivered?
We use a specialist 26-ton vehicle with a built-in HIAB crane. The driver will lift the cabin package from the truck and place it as close to your property as possible (typically kerbside or driveway). We cannot crane the cabin over houses or large immovable obstacles.
How long does assembly take?
For two people with some DIY experience, assembly typically takes a full day. Less experienced installers may prefer to spread the build over two days. Comprehensive instructions and fixings are included, and an installation video is available in the image gallery on this page to guide you.
What maintenance is required?
Regular maintenance is key to longevity. You must apply a high-quality wood preserver immediately after assembly, paying close attention to joints and bottom logs, and re-treat the building annually. Keep the roof free of debris and ensure no branches are rubbing against the EPDM rubber.
Is insulation necessary?
The 44mm thick logs provide good natural insulation, meaning a small heater is often sufficient for comfort. However, for true year-round use or to maximise energy efficiency, adding floor and roof insulation is a great investment. Rigid foam boards (like Kingspan) are a popular choice for the roof.
Delivery/Returns
How Your Order Will Arrive
All Powersheds product are delivered flat-packed on a pallet, ready for self-assembly. Delivery is made to the kerbside or driveway using a 26-tonne HIAB vehicle with the following approximate dimensions:
- Length: 10.65m
- Width: 2.6m
- Height: 14ft 6in (varies depending on load and whether the vehicle arm is extended)
If there are any access restrictions that might affect delivery, please let us know beforehand to avoid any failed delivery charges or delays.
The HIAB (lorry-mounted crane) unloads your order as a single pack. It needs:
- Sufficient space for stabilising legs
- A clear area free of obstacles, steep inclines, or low overhangs
Important: The driver will assess whether it’s possible to place the pack on your driveway or over a gate/fence on the day. This cannot be guaranteed in advance.
The driver cannot assist with unpacking or moving items manually.
On the Day of Delivery
We ask that someone is present when the goods arrives to advise where the driver should leave the pallet. If no one is available or access is not possible due to undisclosed issues, redelivery fees may apply.
Please do not book any installers or tradespeople until you've received and checked your order, as we cannot be held responsible for any costs due to delayed or rescheduled deliveries.
Note: Deliveries can only be made using a 26-tonne vehicle. If your property is inaccessible for a vehicle of this size, we may be unable to deliver your order.

- Dead ends or steep hills
- Double red lines or no-stopping zones
