Description

If you are looking to add convenient storage to your garden at a low cost, or you want to replace an existing garden shed with a great value, reliable, apex roof shed, the 8 x 6 Shire Value Overlap Shed with no windows could be perfect for you. This is the largest size currently available in the Shire Value range of sheds, so it provides you with plenty of additional storage. It does, however, still have a relatively compact footprint, ensuring its suitability for a wide range of garden sizes. This version is an upgrade on the standard, dip treated version. Pressure treatment ensures an unbeatable level of protection for the timber from rot and will ensure your shed will last longer than a dip treated equivalent (provided the manufacturer’s care instructions are followed).

Constructed to a simple design from high quality timber, this fantastic garden shed is available at a low price while still providing great quality. It is fantastic if you have outgrown your existing storage space or simply need to provide sheltered storage to a range of garden items, such as outdoor furniture, tools, gardening equipment or kid’s toys.

This 8 x 6 overlap shed is better than the average overlap shed you may see sold elsewhere. Though it may be low in price, it boasts a number of features that show its quality. The key difference between the Shire Value Range of sheds and similar products is that it has supporting rails top and bottom on the inside of each wall, not just on the top like some others on the market. It also has a 34mm framework, which is 20% thicker than anything at this price level and ensures a much sturdier build that will last for years to come.

Features

The real selling point of the Shire Value Overlap Shed is its 34mm framing. This gives the shed a strength and stability that is unmatched by similar products in this price bracket. The shed’s overlap construction promotes the efficient run off of water, which will help to keep the shed dry inside. However, an appropriate waterproofing treatment should still be used to ensure your shed’s contents remain fully protected from the elements and to ensure your shed will last. The door is robust and is ledged, as well as featuring a hasp and staple for security. An 8mm Oriented Strand Board (OSB) roof ensures good weather resistance. Plus, with roofing felt provided with your purchase, this further adds to the level of protection. The shed floor is also 8mm OSB which should be strong enough to withstand whatever it is you need to store inside. Finally, because this shed is supplied without windows, it hides away anything you want to store inside from prying eyes, helping to provide security for the shed’s contents.

About the Timber

You will be impressed by Shire's use of natural products and their environmental credentials. A high quality timber product starts with high quality timber, so it is important to know exactly what timber is being used for your shed. The most commonly used timber for garden buildings is pine (pinus) as this is widely available for a very cheap price, however all of Shire's garden buildings are constructed using high quality spruce (picea) and is sourced from Siberia and Scandinavia under strict FSC guidance. Spruce is more durable than pine and provides a higher quality finish. This timber is slow grown unlike fast grown British and Eastern Europe's timber, and being slow grown means a tighter grain, less sap and with far fewer knots. The timber used on Shire's range is therefore a more durable timber that will last much longer than other timbers. Spruce is therefore the timber of choice for companies such as Shire who always look to produce the best garden building.

About Shire

Established in 1945, Shire are the country's leading, and one of the oldest established, manufacturers of garden buildings. Shire benefit from being adjacent to the Port of Wisbech, through which Shire discharge timber into their warehouses. Shire is the proud manufacturer of the largest timber garden building range produced in the UK. At peak times they produce thousands of buildings a week. Their range includes Garden Sheds, Log Cabins, Eco Homes, Home Offices, Sheds, Workshops, Summerhouses, Playhouses, Arbours, Storage units and Pet houses. Their production facilities cover some 23 acres and include huge undercover stock holding facilities for many of their ranges, an advanced high speed timber planing mill, modern well equipped joinery production facility and semi-automated production lines. All Shire garden buildings are manufactured in the UK using the finest spruce timber, imported directly and machined through the most up to date machines to ensure the best quality and best value for money products in the UK.

Additional Details about your Order

This shed is pressure treated. Pressure treatment is almost colourless, except for a light green tint caused by the copper content in the preservative. In the course of time, the treatment greys, but this does not affect the quality. This means you do not immediately need to add additional treatment to the shed yourself, but you will need to follow the manufacturer’s care instructions regarding later treatment and protection of your shed. Many customers like to personalise their sheds by adding an exterior wood treatment which also adds additional protection to the timber and a splash of colour. Shire recommends Protek Royal Exterior wood finish, available from elbec in many different colours. This is also a great way to refresh the look of your shed over time.
