The compact footprint of the 4 x 6 means that even with limited garden space, you can bring valuable extra storage space to your home. It’s neat appearance and excellent timber finish is also sure to look great in any garden setting. Whether you are simply running out of space in your existing storage areas for your garden tools, outdoor furniture, DIY materials or if you have a tired, old shed in desperate need of an upgrade, this Shire Pressure Treated Shed could be just the solution. We’re pleased to offer the option of booking our dedicated professionals who will assemble your shed quickly and correctly. However, you can choose to use the comprehensive instructions included with the shed and construct it yourself.

Features

Quite simply, pressure treated sheds are at the top of the pile when it comes to quality wood products that will stand up to the test of time. Pressure treatment involves a preservative being forced into the timber under high pressure. This provides unbeatable, long-term protection against rot, fungus and weather damage, helping to ensure that your shed will last. The shed’s overlap construction allows effective water run off and helps to keep the inside dry and protected from the elements. The shed gets its strength from its 34mm x 34mm framing, a feature you will normally only find on far more expensive products, and this ensures a sturdy building. The roof and floor are constructed from robust oriented strand board (OSB) ensuring a weatherproof roof and a floor with an impressive load capacity. This is also supported by 34mm x 34mm framing for extra building strength. With wide opening double doors, you are given a shed that is much easier to access than most sheds of this size which often feature only a single door. The generous height of the eaves and the apex roof ensure that there is plenty of usable storage space inside. This shed is also windowless, meaning that items stored inside will be hidden away from the eyes of potential thieves. The shed’s contents are further protected from theft by the padlockable hasp and staple, (padlock not supplied) meaning you are given extra peace of mind when storing items inside.

About the Timber

You will be impressed by Shire's use of natural products and their environmental credentials. A high quality timber product starts with high quality timber, so it is important to know exactly what timber is being used for your shed. The most commonly used timber for garden buildings is pine (pinus) as this is widely available for a very cheap price, however all of Shire's garden buildings are constructed using high quality spruce (picea) and is sourced from Siberia and Scandinavia under strict FSC guidance. Spruce is more durable than pine and provides a higher quality finish. This timber is slow grown unlike fast grown British and Eastern Europe's timber, being slow grown timber means a tighter grain, less sap and with far fewer knots. The timber used on Shire's range is therefore a more durable timber that will last much longer than other timbers. Spruce is therefore the timber of choice for companies such as Shire who always look to produce the best garden building.

About Shire

Established in 1945 Shire are the country's leading, and one of the oldest established, manufacturers of garden buildings. Shire benefit from being adjacent to the Port of Wisbech, through which Shire discharge timber into their warehouses. Shire is the proud manufacturer of the largest timber garden building range produced in the UK. At peak times they produce thousands of buildings a week. Their range includes Garden Sheds, Log Cabins, Eco Homes, Home Offices, Sheds, Workshops, Summerhouses, Playhouses, Arbours, Storage units and Pet houses. Their production facilities cover some 23 acres and include huge undercover stock holding facilities for many of their ranges, an advanced high speed timber planing mill, modern well equipped joinery production facility and semi-automated production lines. All Shire garden buildings are manufactured in the UK using the finest spruce timber, imported directly and machined through the most up to date machines to ensure the best quality and best value for money products in the UK.

Additional Details about your Order

This shed is pressure treated. Pressure treatment is almost colourless, except for a light green tint caused by the copper content in the preservative. In the course of time, the treatment greys, but this does not affect the quality. This means you do not immediately need to add additional treatment to the shed yourself. However, many customers like to personalise their sheds by adding an exterior wood treatment which also adds additional protection to the timber and a splash of colour. Shire recommends Protek Royal Exterior wood finish, available from elbec in many different colours. This is also a great way to refresh the look of your shed over time.
