Features

A range of thoughtful design features to support this increased size are worthy of your attention. For instance, two manual vents are included in the upper panels of the Essence to better regulate the temperature and humidity of the greenhouse. Opening both vents at once is a remarkably effective way of creating a draught that cools the interior on a hot summer's day. 

When accessing the Palram Essence, wide double doors with a low threshold doorway makes life easier. This is especially helpful for wheelchair users, or anyone entering with a wheelbarrow. If you would like to keep both doors open as you work, small magnetic catches at the bottom of the doors lock onto the frame and hold the doors in place. Built-in guttering that allows you to easily collect rainwater in a water butt will similarly improve your experience using the Essence, as will door handles that can be locked with the addition of a padlock already owned by the customer.

Polycarbonate glazing can be seen as a second-rate alternative to glass, and it is true that polycarbonate is a less costly material than most glass. But it is worth considering a polycarbonate glazed greenhouse like the Essence in any garden where there is a risk of damage to your greenhouse, from ball games or stray branches. The strong polycarbonate glazing used in the Palram Essence is resistant to shattering, and is highly durable; it will not turn yellow or opaque over the years. Its 'frosted' quality is excellent at diffusing sunlight, keeping the worst of the sun off vulnerable plants and bringing more light to shadier patches of the greenhouse.

This glazing is easy to slot into place in the greenhouse's frame when assembling. The frame is constructed from sturdy aluminium on a galvanised steel perimeter base for added stability. When walking into the capacious Essence for the first time, owners will also notice the additional support braces that provide improved stability to the wider scale of this model in the Palram range. 

Accessories

Many owners like to give their greenhouse more capacity for growing in different ways, or simply improving the experience of using the greenhouse. Palram offers a fantastic range of accessories that is worth exploring before placing an order for the 8x12 Essence Silver. We are taken by the Automatic Vent Opener, which uses a hidden wax cylinder that expands in heat and contracts in cooler weather, forcing open and pulling closed your vent.

In the Essence, which has a more generous headroom than many other garden greenhouses, you might want to make the most of this extra height and consider adding Plant Hangers to your order. These simple items clip to your greenhouse's frame and are ideal for stringing up tall plants or hanging baskets. The Steel Work Bench or Heavy Duty Shelf Kit are also fantastic ways to increase the potential space for growing plants on different levels inside your greenhouse.

Additional Information

Customers are expected to assemble their Palram 8x12 Essence Silver greenhouse at home. Most find it best to set aside a weekend and ask a friend or two to help put the Essence together. Those who have some DIY experience will find the process more straightforward, but written instructions are included with your order and a short video from Palram shows just how easy it is. Your persistence will be rewarded with a high-quality greenhouse to last for years.

ALL DELIVERIES ARE DELIVERED TO KERBSIDE OR DRIVEWAY. This product is delivered flat packed, direct to your home and is supplied with a set of instructions to support assembly.

Our telephone lines are exceptionally busy to avoid queuing you can use the ‘Help’ facility which is on every product page.

To protect both you and our drivers, we request that you remain within your property while they complete the delivery.

Booking Delivery

Your order will be dispatched by the manufacturer Palram Applications. If you have ordered more than one item, they may arrive at different times.

Our teams are working hard to ensure your order is delivered within the timescale indicated on the product page. For customers in certain areas (e.g. Scotland and Wales) the timescale may be slightly extended. Please note lead times are counted in working days (Monday – Friday) excluding Bank Holidays.

Prior to Delivery

With Palram products, you will be sent two text messages. The first message will inform you that your order is being processed. The second message will be sent closer to the end of the delivery timescale, advising you that your order has been dispatched and will be delivered by one of three couriers (Arrow XL, Panther or DPD).

Please note that both elbec and Palram will be unable to supply any further information on your order during this timescale. 

Upon Delivery

Your order will be delivered kerbside or on your driveway. Due to health and safety, and insurance liabilities, the driver will not be able to take your goods to the back of your property but – upon request – may place the product at the side of the house if there are no access issues. This is to avoid risking damage to your property while delivering to an unsafe location. We will not be able to go through your property.

We recommend against arranging for a third party to install the product before its delivery and checking that all parts are present, and we cannot be held liable for any third-party costs caused by delays.
